Diamond derives its name from the greek word adamas, meaning "unconquerable," and is the hardest of all known minerals and is famed for its lasting fiery brilliance.

Before 1870 diamonds were found only as crystals or fragments in river gravel, mainly in India or Brazil. In the late 1800s, Kimberlite Rock was discovered in South Africa and found to be an excellent bearer of diamonds, thus making South Africa the top provider of quality diamonds.

When purchasing diamonds, you must consider the 4 Cs, which are Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat.
